During the AIA 2012 expo in Washington, DC, that took place in mid-May, we were demonstrating our new Shaderlight Cloud Rendering plug-in for SketchUp and new features for SightSpace 3D, our mobile viewer with Augmented Reality for SketchUp. In our booth we joined up with the good people of Shaderlight to show off Shaderlight Cloud Rendering (launching June 2012) which is the first, and only, SketchUp rendering plug-in to use the power of fast computers on the cloud to deliver high quality photorealistic renderings fast without tying up your desktop.
AIA was the perfect opportunity to get direct feedback and we have already won an award from Architosh! If you couldn’t make it to AIA, see a sneak preview now of the high quality and time savings you can expect with the new Shaderlight Cloud Rendering plug-in (and your local machine will be free to continue working!)
We were also previewing some great new features for our SightSpace 3D mobile app for SketchUp which was great fun. Visitors were walking around holding up iPads and Androids looking at a digital 3D model of the Google Boulder Office superimposed over the SketchUp booth in Augmented Reality.
If you aren’t familiar with SightSpace, it is a powerful tool to view models created in SketchUp and other programs that read .KMZ files. These include Google Earth, the Google 3D Warehouse, ArchiCAD, and ArcGIS. With SightSpace, you can annotate 3D models, bookmark favorite views, take screenshots, and share notes and photos. If you have a pair of red/cyan glasses, you can also view models in full Stereoscopic 3D. We were giving away 3D glasses at AIA, so visitors to our booth were easy to spot! SightSpace is powered by VYZAR, our custom Augmented Reality engine, enabling us to easily incorporate new features and feedback from our users.
